Application Engineer

Company Description:
Impossible Objects invented a completely new and revolutionary method of 3D printing.  Rather than making incremental improvements to already existing processes, we completely reimagined 3D printing.  Our composite based additive manufacturing process (CBAM) has faster speeds, better materials, better dimensional accuracy, and a broader range of material possibilities than other 3D printing processes.  We print composite parts with our process utilizing high performance materials such as carbon fiber. Our goal is to change the way things are made. 

Because of our rapid growth, we are looking to expand our team with a critical Application Engineer position. We are problem solvers and have assembled a team that is inventing the future.

Position Overview:

As an Application Engineer your primary responsibility is to work with our customers to solve their problems using our revolutionary technology.  The goal of the Application Engineer is to learn the CBAM end-to-end process, create innovative tool and part designs, operate CBAM equipment and related equipment, perform functional tests, evaluate and bring forward new CBAM applications for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work to solve customer problems.
  • Effectively partner directly with management, engineering, customers and suppliers to improve and refine our process.
  • Develop deep understanding of customer requirements and determine the best way to solve their problems including part design for additive manufacturing and the CBAM process.  Include part validation.
  • Be able to build a complete set of parts beginning with CAD to printing to post-processing.
  • Complete all post-processing of test parts when support is needed.
  • Track and resolve issues pertaining to CBAM development schedule and or quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate application types to prospects, customers or investors, etc. 
  • Assist other Application Engineers with development of new applications in CBAM, alpha testing, beta programs or any other related product development.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and attend all safety trainings related to the job position.

Requirements:

  • Genuine passion for 3D printing!
  • Experience with 3D printing / additive manufacturing and operating 3D printers.
  • Creative problem Solver.
  • Customer-focused attitude with an appropriate sense of urgency and attention to details when handling process and machine related issues.
  • Quick learner, and self-starter.
  • Demonstrated experience using Pro/E, Unigraphics, Solidworks or CATIA V5 CAD solid modeling software programs.
  • Customer-focused attitude with an appropriate sense of urgency and attention to details when handling process and machine related issues. 
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software applications and/or Rapid Prototyping industry experience is strongly desired.
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or Materials Engineering or Industrial Technology.
